Tricky Devil - and your junk food would be??
That's interesting Justin. Do you have a water preference like Deer Park or whatever is popular in OZ? I used to be a KoolAid junkie (the original, no cheesy/cheap imitations). I gave it up as well and never looked back.
I have a new addiction to constantly eating Oporto :s

Yeah, I am about to go downstairs and chow down now b/c of this topic. LAUGHS!! Oooooooh, I have another junk food obsession - corn nuggets from SFW hot foods section. I was there today and spent $9 on a container full of them. If I ever find out where they get them from, I am done with the supermarket. :p They have some in Mars but they are not sweet. They tried and failed.
what are corn nuggets ive never heard of them before :o

what are corn nuggets ive never heard of them before :o
eh nick i think thay are nuggets made of corn!its kinda in the name homie!
Lady Di
10-08-2006, 06:53 AM
Be nice in xs!! (laughs)
Anyhow, Nick they are either fried creamed corn and/or regular corn in a batter consisting of possibly sugar along with flour, butter and other seasonings. I say sugar is possibly in it b/c the ones in Mars, the batter was not sweet. Depends on who makes them I guess. Here is a recipe w/photo (http://www.southwestcuisine.com/appetizer10.htm). I believe Church's Chicken (wanna be Kentucky Fried Chicken competitor) used to have them. It's a southern (states) cuisine.
The ones I picked up yesterday look nothing like that but the recipe is near the same. All I know is they buy them in a bulk sized bag like ready-to-cook chicken nuggets come in.
I used to eat everything before, mostly junk food, but since like a year I'm tryin to eat healthy n **** cuz of all the sports I do, but from time to time I eat a hamburger or some ****...

Lady Di

Ro$$hi - go here (http://www.hormel.com/templates/knowledge/knowledge.asp?catitemid=38&id=441) to read more on it. I did not know you guys do not have ANY bologna there in OZ. That's really interesting. Lunch meat like ham, turkey, salami and ish.

Mexiacan Restaurants in MD - Chipotle (http://www.chipotle.com/) , Baja Fresh (http://www.bajafresh.com/jump.jsp?itemID=0&itemType=HOME_PAGE) and we HAD Chi Chi's too.
Anyhow, Carribean food is about curry this and that. Almost like India, it is West Indian, and they use loads of curry and spices in almost everything. Curry goat, chicken and more, they eat plantain - a banana-like fruit which is fried and very good. They eat loads of veggies as well - cabbage, carrots and more. Sorrell is a wellness drink as is carrot juice. And last but not least rice and peas is a BIG staple. Rice and kidney beans, black beans and other beans too. They call it rice and peas.
Here's a site (http://jamaicans.com/cooking/index.shtml) with some customary foods. Enjoy!!
And yes Alx - to answer you, they do shrimp but it's not as you make it seems. They are goat, chicken and fish lovers - king fish, mackeral and doctor.

Lady Di
12-19-2006, 08:25 AM
Maybe in YOUR country pork is good but it is like the worst here in the states. And so is beef. After that mad cow disease ish... I was done. Oh chicken is next OFF the list. The USA is just friggin' harsh on the meats here, sadly.
I am having a POM day right now. Almost frozen pomegranate juice, yuuuum!!

In the USA, they use a lot of steroids (for fattening, faster growth and whatever else they make claims to need to do to feed the stomach) and other crazy ish b/c of the demand on everything. Like cigarettes now are so much more horrific than ever b/c kids are smoking them sh**s out fo the farm. Whenever the demand to make a product rises b/c of the demand of said product, the deteriation of it's original state plumates to zero.
Then I got all phylosophical in 2000 too. I was so upset that somone was killing, I mean... taking a life, a heartbeat, a breathe to nurish mine. ANd I stop eating all meats. I lost 50 pounds good thing... in less than a month, not a good thing. ANd top it off, I did not know I was dehydrating severly b/c of the Flu - upper and lower. So, The Dr. gave me one week to get healthier or else it was a hospital stay. And so I eased poultry and seafood back into the diet and added more veggies than ever. Sadly, pasta and other yeast products like breads and such intensified as well. 50 pounds came back and brought their friends too.

Lady Di
12-19-2006, 10:20 PM
I set my profile to read 100 or 102 on all forums b/c my Great Great Aunt lived to 110. I at least would love to see 100. At any rate, I am the oldest one in here. No one has come forward proving otherwise.... yet.
oondanasai
12-19-2006, 10:27 PM
ok then who whats to come forward to being older than di (shes like 40 maby a bit older)
Lady Di
12-19-2006, 10:35 PM
Well anyone born in the 1960's is from 46 to 37. And so, you can choose any of them ages you like but yes, I am a feeeew years older than the X-man himself.
I'll give another hint... The Honourable Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - He was alive in my lifetime. As you may know, his life was taken in '68.
oondanasai
12-19-2006, 10:39 PM
so your 37-38
i dident kno that martin luthar king was a doctor
Lady Di
12-19-2006, 10:41 PM
Let's just say you can take the years 68 and 69 out of the equation. Now that leaves you years 1960 - 67 to guess which one I was born in. Heeeeeeeheeeeheeeeeeee!
Sneaky lil you Oondanasai. :D

Well doll, I am off to find something sweet to eat and rest my aching hands, you be good and try to take a listen to that Dead All Ready tune up in X's forum. Give me some feedback. oondanasai
12-20-2006, 03:08 PM
veggie bacon is that the stuff like ppl on diets eat?
Lady Di
12-21-2006, 01:10 AM
Naw, it's for people who are transitioning to become Vegans and Vegetarians. For those who do not wish to digest meat, veggie products were created. I find most of them quite awful actually. I just elimated pork and beef and eat all else. I am not as hard core as a Vegan is. I don't think this more to love body can handle that route ever.
oondanasai
12-21-2006, 01:29 AM
i couldent eat veggies the whole time ether eeeeeeeeewwwwwwww
Lady Di
12-21-2006, 01:40 AM
It's not all about taste for me, it is about conditioning and internal growth. I love vegetables immensely and am eating some I nevr ate earlier in life. Things like cabbage and certain greens were like EEEEWWWWWWWWWWW. Now, I tear down on them. When you've grown up eating meat all your life, it is very, very hard to get out of the diet. For me at least.
My NY's resolution is to remove chicken and just do seafood. But I set that reso every year since 2000 and have failed each year.
oondanasai
12-21-2006, 02:04 AM
not .................... about .................. taste
but what about when it is about taste
love cabbage ................ how
this is all verry confusing
Lady Di
12-21-2006, 03:00 AM
Well, see I always thought things that tasted nasty were nasty for you. For instance cabbage and brussell prouts (very baby cabbage). Then as I got wiser about foods that I HAD TO BUY, hah, versus the food my parents bought, my food process changed. Turns out all leafy and or greens are good sources of vitamins, protien and fiber. So, cabbage still can taste nasty at times, like when I OD on it. But if it is seasoned right and I can pick a sweet head, it's on.
Trust me everything that tastes good, later on in life it can become the worse thing to eat. And it's not just a woman thing either. What's funny - how a lil thing like milk was the greatest thing since the cow when Iw as a kid. And then age sets in and it's like your body tell you never, ever drink milk again in your life. AAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!
oondanasai
12-21-2006, 03:43 AM
what no milk : O nooooooooooo.......... XD nah i dnt drink it that much
cabage is the same as lettuce rite?
how do you od on leafy greanz 0.0
hehe brusel sprouts i love them also i like brocoli but noone seems to like it ova here at my age -__-
Lady Di
12-21-2006, 09:46 AM
Well I love milk but at today's age, it don't love me back. I am thinking it is in the processing. Dunno. Now I have to try to get around it by drinking 1% or 2% and/or soy. Dammmmmn.
And please do NOT try to cook lettuce, OK Oondanasai? :) They do look veeeeery similiar and both are sold by the head, ground grown and are round. Cabbage is white/creamy color and light green. Lettuce is usually darker in the green color, at least here in MD it is. Theri leaves are slightly diffferent as well.
I had a guy friend once who I sent to get cabbage. He came back with lettuce and I told him go cook it I was so pissed. Needless, to say he was quite embarassed and played it off saying it was sitting on the cabbages. Whatever.....
oondanasai
12-22-2006, 03:20 PM
lol like where suposed 2 kno tha difference batween cabage and lettuce if noone explainez it
what happens if you cook it?
Lady Di
12-23-2006, 04:26 PM
Oh mercy, there you go Oondanasai. I hope if a giy goes shopping and he does not know cabbage from a head of lettuce that he REALLY looks at them or has the sense to ask someone.
Anyway, if lettuce gets any heat near it, it wilts quickly. If you take a, say, burger straight from the grill and put it near lettuce... you will see how fast it becomes very nasty looking. I never order condiments on my hot foods for that very reason.
oondanasai
12-26-2006, 12:28 AM
on the subject of junk food xmas is over :( i ate sooo much i was feeling sick for like 60% of tha day :) what a great xmas
so dos kooked letuce smell?
Lady Di
12-26-2006, 02:34 AM
Yeah, I kinda packed it on as well and I will pay for it when I go to the Dr and see that scale (GASP). I cleaned up all the dishes, cooking pots and somewhat the kitchen, that was my exercise. :p
I never had the pleasure of cooking lettuce, so I have nooooo clue. I do know that when you put lettuce near say hot meat, it begins to look awful sweaty & wilted.
oondanasai
12-26-2006, 03:12 AM
ok ill blame you if it smells when i burn it while mums not home then XD
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i love xmas mum buys smoked ham mmmmmmmm love that stuff
Lady Di
12-26-2006, 03:22 AM
OMGoodness, you are actually going to attempt to cook lettuce just to see what it does and/or how it looks/smells Oondanasai? Yeah, please makre sure Mum is not home b/c she might beat you up. (laughs)
BTW -Oondanasai the name/word, what Asian language is it from? Are you of Asian descent?
oondanasai

Oh yeah, fried oysters at that for me Ro$$hi. I can't do them raw. I used to try when I worked near a popular Seafood resturant downtown. The tabasco was never something I could eat any how. But I did try and every time I would near hurl. :p
BTW - they are supposed to be an aphrodisiac.

Try a "Bandeja Paisa"...that stuff fills you up in a pinch! and it's an awesome combination of all types of food...it's a typical dish of my department(not called states over here...just departments)....
damn I wanna eat one now...I guess y'all wanna know what it has ;)
Lady Di
01-12-2007, 08:17 AM
Wait, DEPARTMENT??? WTH?? No States like our Maryland, Cali, etc... Oh do explain Daniel. And follow that up with an explanation of that dis you want me to try while I polish off Baked Ziti Greek Style, yummmmm yummmmmmmmm!!
TheBerserker

let me start the lesson :)
you know, not all countries are the same. In the US you call the division of the country "states", right? and they subdivide as well in counties...well, it's different in my country. In the past, my country was called united states of Colombia, but that changed, cuz of all the political arguments and stuff, and the civil wars too, so they changed the name to just Colombia and the states were renamed departments. Why? I dunno either, but that's how they're called, and the departments don't have subdivisions, just towns and little villages.
Now, to the food part...a Bandeja Paisa is a pretty famous dish in my country, and in the US too...you can ask somebody in florida, new york or california(but mostly latin people) if they have heard about a Bandeja Paisa...well, it consists of a big plate(obviously) filled with rice, beans, avocado, an egg(doesn't matter how you serve the egg), bacon, mashed plantain and whatever else you'd like to throw in too...it often comes with a typical beverage too called "Mazamorra"(try to pronounce it...you'll sound funny...=D)which is water, milk, and boiled corn, which tastes great, and even more if you drink it with something sweet...
when you're done eating it, you can surely know that you won't have to eat until next day...hehe...I want one right now =)
any doubts Ms. Di?
oondanasai
01-13-2007, 06:24 AM

01-14-2007, 09:55 PM
Di - Have you read my lesson about the Bandeja?
Oondanasai - Japanese lessons? how much do you know? I'm learning it too :p...and how did you sound when you pronounced it? funny right?
Lady Di
01-14-2007, 10:59 PM
Yes I did Daniel and I took it to another level.... (laughs) I even searched for Colombia Restuarants in the area. Found some but they are downtown and none serve that dish. :(
So, the search is still on b/c since then - I have read some recipes, seen photos of the plate and read reviews of it as well. One day I'll post that I ate some, sometime in my lifetime. It may not be exact b/c the bacon has to go, laughs, but I will try to find it - no doubt.
And I pronounced the drink like 'mah-zah-more-ra' (rolling the r's??). Is this right??

01-16-2007, 03:42 PM
haha Di, thats too bad...but hey, try to make one...it's kinda easy...and it tastes really good...and you pronounced it the right way ;)
Oondanasai - I'm still with the basics and learning the 3 alphabets...with the Hiragana, Katakana and Kanjis...My dream is to go to japan, speak japanese, eat all the food I can have and then go buy some stuff in akihabara hehe
Lady Di
01-21-2007, 03:59 PM
Ok, back to add to this - I had cornbread, Talapia (fish - I baked it), mashed potatoes (didn't feel like steam fryin' them), fried plantain, and grilled veggies consisting of green, red, & yellow peppers, zucchini (sp??), and squash. YUMMMMMY!! (rubs that in to Oondanasai & Ro$$hi)
Mr NZ - another place that has yucky food. Fries and salads are all I can do from there.
Daniel - I am going to let someone else make it first so I can at least see how the plate is set-up. I read that some foods on the plate aren't suppose to touch each other. I am real finicky about that anyhow. Like nothing runny like greens or beans that are boiled can touch say bread EVER nor soft foods like potatoes, rice, etc. I am a real pain when it comes to my food. Don't serve my dressing ON my salad prior to bringing it to me, don't pre-butter my bread and ish like that and way more.
And you remember that dessert I was eating? It was so awesome I almost braved this lil snow we got today to get one again. Banana tortilla wrapped in it some kind of cream cheese mixture and swirled on top what tasted like banana carmel. To cry for..........
Ro$$hi
01-21-2007, 06:51 PM

Whomever decided to make Kraft Deluxe (the mac & cheese kit w/the cheese in the foil pack) needs to have their head examined. Just nasty.
Anyway, Daniel someone sent me an awesome goodie box, just because me love food. :p In it there's a Taco Bell Ultimate Nachos kit and a Fajitas kit too. I am so gonna have a good time over the weekend makin' this stuff.

03-03-2007, 08:15 PM
haha why do you tell me that?? you just simply like to see me starve to death at night dontcha? (maybe I should add this to the dontcha hate thread :p)
well...I had like a roll filled with veggies and some sauce that I don't remember the name, and it was goooooood...and later I had a hot dog...I know it's simple, but it's tasty ;)
Lady Di
03-03-2007, 11:31 PM
Well Daniel, the roll filled with veggies with sauce sounds good. Is it some kind of spanish snack?? You can have the hotdog.
About those TB kits, they require more ingredients than I have AND microwave which I despise to actually cook in. We shall see....
TheBerserker
03-05-2007, 02:07 PM
well Di, I don't really know...the only thing I sure know is that it tastes soooo nice :)
Lady Di
03-06-2007, 12:12 PM
Ok. Well in the fajita, I used portabella mushrooms, green peps, and sweet onions. It was awesome. The other kit wasn't that great. I bought sour cream for it and ended up eating it off the spoon more than anything. I love sour cream and it loves me too. :D Ohh, I bought some overly ripe red bananas that I thought you could fry... didn't like them that way so I put them in the oven, nope on the baking either. I'll stick to plantains. And I bought a very nasty avacodo with all these veins in it... YUCK.
